We are losing some of our BRIGHTEST people because, for some INEXPLICABLE reason, this site has decided to become the exact OPPOSITE of what it started as: a PROGRESSIVE blog -- a place for OPEN EXCHANGE.
You either believe in free speech or you don't -- but you cannot hold your hand out and wait for ADVERTISING money to drop into it, given to you as a "liberal" and staunch defender of "free speech” -- while at the same time ARBITRARILY & CAPRICIOUSLY CENSORIING a website that you claim is "open for anyone from the public to participate in".
That means that you don't get to SILENCE people simply because YOU do not like what they have to say.
That means you can't GAG someone for citing facts and speaking truth that YOU don't want others to know about -- because that makes you HYPOCRITES.
You either BELIEVE in free speech or you DON'T.
You either PRACTICE what you PREACH or you DON'T -- and if you don't, you need to expect to be dealt the CONSEQUENCES...
EXPOSURE -- as an entity that has been CORRUPTED by the same folks that corrupted our NATION.
This place is NO different than any other, and it should stop MARKETING itself as such.

Long Live the Rev, Ahhhgh Fuck it!
Well it apears that after the revolution was call no one showed. So it's back to rank and file on HP those that complain incisively fell like dominoes, not a peep was utered. Me I lost 6 lives so I can look in the mirror. Those that actually voiced an opinion I hardly knew, that is because those that post all over the place may be nothing more than paid HP employees.

When I warned that HP was targeting us for posting pleasantries, I expected people to rise up; You didn't. Then when the broken youtube music links thing surfaced, I was sure then, that the HP community would be from heard; we stood mute. Then came the news that HP summarily began suspending accounts that did not follow a certain tone. Certainly we would not stand for that; we did. HP is conducting massive surveillance on our community; you and me, and at least I consoled myself that finally, finally we had enough. Evidently we haven't. In fact if the people in this site have spoken the message is; We're OK with it all:
The censorship
The warrantless blocking of links
The suspension of accounts
We as a group apparently are not offended. There haven’t been many letters of protest being written, in fact there's no clear indication that most of you noticed or care. Well I care and so do others. If you are offended by:
Unwarranted bannings
excessive scru.bings
Blank spaces
Link deletions
Appeal to others to join the protest!
Take the time today and post your grievances.

Alarm bell seems like your comment was scrubbed. I took the liberty to post it again hopefully we'll not get scrubbed again. Also it gives me a chance reply:
I agree, that people should not lose their heritage. But for most of America, Cinco de Mayo is nothing more than an occasion to drink. Just like St. Patrick's Day.
That said, since all Americans are immigrants, and some are proud of their German heritage, or Irish heritage or whatnot, yet can proudly call themselves American, and that is both expected and admired. But when Meb does the same thing, he is criticized. What is the difference between an immigrant from Africa and one from Europe?
Conversely, had he held up an Eritrean flag when he won, he would have been absolutely reamed in the press for not being proud of his citizenry and the country that 'made him what he is." Critics just can't be happy for anyone.

I think you are suffering from a bad case of Boy Scout. Of course when people take part in others culture of celebration is just another excuse to drink, I say drinking and be merry (perhaps a few will actually learn a bit about the other culture) I don't think meb was criticized for celebrating its ethnic background, during sports events he always celebrates his American citizenship. it was Rovell's narrow minded comments that made this an issue. unfortunately some people will take potshots I say F_U_C_K them.

Think about it if I call someone black I get dirty looks, call the same person African American and it's ok.
If you are a Naturalized citizen of the U.S. you are an American period.
If you call yourself an:
African-American
Hispanic American
Asian-American
or any other nationality/American, by definition you are not American. If you are lily white and your ancestors were in the Mayflower and you're a Republican YOU'RE NOT AN AMERICAN! - You make an interesting point. An interesting point I disagree with at some level but none-the-less interesting. Btw. who would give you a dirty look for calling a black person black? Now, if you call me colored or a negro I'm going to think you are, perhaps, hopelessly antiquarian but not racist. I, for one, prefer the term black to African-American because I think that the latter term is somewhat disingenuous. My ancestors *stopped* being Africans the minute the West African coast disappeared over the horizon a couple of hundred years ago. Since then we have been Americans--whether America believed that about us or not. This much we agree on. Where I disagree with you is this idea that if you call yourself African-American or Hispanic American or Asian American you are not an American. There is no nation called Africa. No nation called Asia. No nation called Hispania or Hispanola (there's a city by the latter name but no matter here). They are ethnic markers NOT nationality markers. It is no more renouncing your American nationality to call yourself Asian American than it is to call yourself a Jewish American. Cheers A
